Midwifery Services

Free Consultation

Choosing the location of your birth is a very personal decision. Not sure if an out of hospital birth is right for you? Come meet with us and talk about your option for a home birth.

Prenatal Care

Prenatal office visits are scheduled every four weeks until week 28, at which time they increase to every two weeks. At 36 weeks, we will meet with you weekly until the birth. We will also schedule a home visit towards the end of your pregnancy. Prenatal visits usually range from 30-45 minutes, which allows time to assess your blood pressure and pulse, and check for fetal growth, position and heart rate. This is also a time to answer questions, address concerns and provide client education. Children are welcome and encouraged to attend appointments.

Labor And Birth

You will prepare your space for birth by ordering birth kits and gathering supplies from a list we will provide. We will attend you in labor once you enter the active stage, or sooner if indicated. We bring lots of equipment and supplies with us, such as oxygen, various medications to treat urgent situations, IV supplies, etc. We typically stay until you and baby are stable after the birth, which is usually for about 3-4hrs. You will be given detailed postpartum instructions so that you can monitor yourself and baby after we leave and understand what to expect and when to call with concerns. Many of the births we attend are water births but you can freely choose where you would like to have your baby.

Postpartum and Newborn Care

We will follow up with you and your baby in your home between 24-48 hours after the birth. You will then continue to come to the office at 1 week, 3 weeks and 6 weeks after birth. Midwifery scope includes newborn care through 2 weeks of age. These visits are important as we continue to monitor your healing and transition in the postpartum period.
